Your Personalised Piscean Purge Protocols
Ceremonial Archetypes for Saying Goodbye to the Solar Year.
In what feels like an increasingly exhausting list of different New Year Days that our Realm celebrates (Gregorian, Lunar, Chinese, Persian, peak-early-U2-before-Bono-became-a-Smug-Globalist-Prick et al.), we are fast approaching the Recycle Point of the most significant Skyclock Cycle: the “Spring” Equinox (of all the forms of hidden structural prejudice that exist inside our Fallen Snow Globe, being an Astrologer in the Southern Hemisphere might be the most under-appreciated).
Side note: Did you know that Bono has a Sun-Mercury-Venus Stellium in Sidereal Aries? Probably why the prick was so obsessed with war and over-asserting himself and projected it out into his romantic encounters so successfully.
THAT’S RIGHT: Solar Aries Season begins in roughly a week. Mars! Cardinal Fire! Animals with Horns! Let’s Fucking Goooooo…
NOT SO FAST ARIES: The Piscean Archetype still permeates our Toroidal Sphere, not unlike an empathetic yet detached fart in an elevator, and we all have some deep inner work to do while we wait for the doors to open.
One of the main goals of Wholesome Astrology is to make the Archetypes of the Skyclock as understandable and practical as possible.
As an example: the recent Mars-Pluto Conjunction coincided with an Ecstatic Dance event that a few of my friends put on. They had no idea about the Astrology, but once aware we were able to integrate the theme of Actively Unearthing and Transforming Resentments into that event. Their next event coincided with the peak of last weeks Mars-Uranus Square, which allowed for a similarly Active if more Spontaneous energy to be channeled.
By finding such practical and healthy ways to put Astrology into practice, we not only are able to personally channel these energies for own our progress, but we also balance out its negative/unconscious manifestation in the Collective. These practices also allow us to creatively play around with both Tropical and Sidereal Placements, working out how they can complement each other rather than acting in dichotomy.
So, with this post, I am going attempt to outline an “Archetypal Ceremony” for this week: basically and End of Solar Year Piscean Purge Protocol that anyone can integrate into their own daily routine should they wish. Each of the four steps (which I have also summarised in four 1 minute Shorts, set to wholesome highlights from a local Fair!) grounds a different activated Astrological Archetype into specific practices/rituals. You can further personalise the practice by centring it within the domains of life of your Natal House that the Sun is currently passing through (shoot me an email at isaac.mids@gmail.com if you don’t know how to do this).
If you find this helpful, have any personal successes, or have suggestions for how this idea could be more helpful, please drop any feedback in the comments and I will try to do more of these in the future.
Step 1 (Today): Enter Your Ceremonial State
Tropically, you know the picture most likely: we are currently in the final week of Pisces Season, which will end at the Equinox when we shift from Mutable Water to the Cardinal Fire of Aries.
Sidereally, in the observable sky, we are still in the deep end of Pisces: and this is where we get the Deep Archetypal Gnosis for the understanding the purging energies we can be leaning into.
The transition into the Deepest Waters of the Pisces Constellation, which the Sun is currently passing through, is marked by two of the deepest and most intense Lunar Archetypes: a pair of Vedic Nakshatras called the Bhadrapadas.
How Deep and Intense? The Bhadrapadas together are symbolised as a Ceremonial Death Bed: whereby the soul exits the 11th House Aquarius Realm of the Collective, where it must undertake a fiery spiritual transformation before obtaining 12th House Piscean Transcendence.
I gave a summary of the first of the pair Purva Bhadrapada in this article, which I described as the Aquarian Archetype tossing a match behind them as the exit the Collective (it also happens to be the dominant Nakshatra for pretty much the entire cast of Breaking Bad).
Uttara is less Provocative and Destructive, and seeks to distill the intensity of Purva into its Enduring and Eternal Meaning
Uttara Bhadrapada (The Meaning): The Binder — Essence, Significance, Seriousness.
The Deepest Piscean Waters: to Seek Eternal Truth; Extracting the Essence of Life. An Enduring Nakshatra, it translates as the latter parts of a ceremony: finding Meaning in the Intensity of Purva Bhadrapada. Still Spiritual and Mystic, but less Active and Fierce. Deity is Ahi Budhnya: The Serpent of the Deep; Curling around the Earth, Binding Earth and Sky together.
In short: the end of the Solar Year is very literally transformed by these complementary Lunar Archetypes into a week of Ceremony — a Cleansing and Purging of all the emotional baggage that has been accumulated over the year. Coincidentally (or not), this week also aligns with fasting rituals across various Faiths and Religions.
Honouring these energies requires finding your own way of entering into a Ceremonial State: which I would suggest requires establishing the Intentions, Rituals, Archetypes, Deities will be most central to this week-long Ceremony. While these will differ for each person (most notably based on where what House in your Natal Chart) the Sun is currently passing through), there are three specific Transits that we can use to provide structure.
Step 2 (17th-18th of March): Enter Your Dream State
Across the 17th and 18th of March, roughly within the next 24 hours, the Sun will become exactly Conjunct with Neptune in the final degrees of Tropical Pisces.
Sun-Neptune is an interesting one. These are the Archetypal Keywords I managed to come up with:
Sun-Neptune Opportunities: Elusive in the Spotlight; Daydreaming; Powers of Invisibility.
Sun-Neptune Challenges: Constantly Escaping One’s Self; Living a Lie; Father as Victim.
What I think we are doing across this 24 hour period is putting on our “Cloak of Invisibility”: consciously entering into a Daydream that allows us to somewhat Transcend the every day (without escaping it completely) and that we will hold over the course of the week.
Step 3 (19th of March): Bringing Focus to the Future
Our final two Transits both involve Mercury, which brings a Rational Mind to two of the most challenging and least “mainstream” Celestial Archetypes, thus providing a clear and logical counterbalance to Neptune.
Mercury: The fastest moving planet, going to and fro with its famous retrograde: synthesizing and synergising; in the mind and through speech. Ruler of Gemini, it controls communication and correspondence, learning and knowledge. Ruler of Virgo, it concerns logic, rationality and taking care of business.
On the 19th of March, Mercury will join the North Node of the Moon, Rahu.
Also known as the Head of the Celestial Dragon, the North Node is most commonly said to signify our Trajectory, Purpose and Destination for this incarnation. With the South Node indicating everything that we bring in with us and seek to leave behind, Rahu is fundamentally about moving towards the Future.
Our ultimate Nodal Life Lesson, like any other Opposition in our chart, is the pursuit of balance between the “competing” Archetypes. If we can find gratitude towards, acceptance for and detachment from our Ketu energy, it allows us to move with purpose and freedom towards the Head of the Dragon, the climax of every Hero’s Journey.
Step 3 then, before we enter the purge, is about aligning our Thoughts, Words and modes of Expression towards the Future: clearly identifying that which will serve us going forward, and that which needs to be left in the past.
Step 4 (20th-21st of March): Articulation and Communication of Trauma
Finally, across the 20th and 21st — the latter being the day of the Equinox and the official transition into Tropical Aries — Mercury will join Chiron: still only 2 degrees from Rahu.
Chiron: The Wounded Healer
The Key to Reveal
Where we Must Heal.
This is where the real Purge begins — where we harness this Archetypal opportunity to dig into the accumulated traumas that have had to be swept under the carpet to negotiate everyday realities. If that sounds unpleasant and unnecessary: remember that we have a Total Solar Eclipse exactly Conjunct (almost to the minute) Chiron, which means we are getting our trauma-dumping work done early — a preparatory act that then allows us to help the the less-conscious Collective, who will almost certainly be forced to reckon with their own trauma during this Eclipse Season.
Also remember that this purge will still be fundamentally Mercurial in nature: rather than the Activeness of Mars or the Spontaneity of Uranus, here we are deliberately Rationalising and Articulating our Chiron undercurrents, before then releasing them through clear acts of Communication.
Piece of cake, right?
Good luck, fellow Ceremonial Diggers. See you soon for Part 1 of The Orange Moonchild. and don’t forget your Great Moonchild Eclipse Bingo Card.
I'm so glad I got my reading from you! It has increased my understanding of astrology ten fold (at least), showed me where I was successful in doing the work, and pointed out my next steps- just in time for the next round of intensity! So grateful and excited to be prepared for whatever reality has cooked up for us 😁
So, I’ve been more open to and actively participating in a bunch of woo woo ceremonies (revolving around healing) this last week and coincidentally (or not) enough had a spot open up for my treatment for which I fly out on the 20th and start on the 21st. Talk about timing!! I’m going to look at my natal chart and see what I can do to initiate this equinox power and lean into it even more so. I’m ready.
Btw, that fair looks like my jam! I also really liked the band that was playing.
And lastly…:
“The Piscean Archetype still permeates our Toroidal Sphere, not unlike an empathetic yet detached fart in an elevator, and we all have some deep inner work to do while we wait for the doors to open.”
