“...spiritual war for the soul of science” is the hook. This is all new to me. But that phrase cuts deep. It reminds me of this quote by Werner Heisenberg:
“The first gulp from the glass of natural sciences will turn you into an atheist, but at the bottom of the glass God is waiting for you.”
I’m new to all this exploration, Isaac. I don’t know what truth is so I’m blindly feeling around for what resonates inside me, what ‘rings’ true. It’s not a scientific formula but my gut is what I got! This whole look into the OGs of germ and terrain theory is a very interesting dive. It puts in another piece in the puzzle for me. Although you made me look up a bunch of words. 😂
Don't feel bad about not knowing the truth. I'm a very old guy and every time I think I'm approaching the truth, I learn something that upsets the idea.
I've found that it's much more realistic, practical, and probably sufficient to figure out what's not true.
The paragraph starting with, "For those not up to speed with the basics...," is utterly brilliant. That is the way history ought to be considered, analyzed, and communicated. Almost nobody ever considers the larger background on 'history" like you did there, and the failure to do so is worse than a crime; it's an abomination.
Are viruses real? Absolutely -- we know viruses exist in computers, after all. We know that ideas and “misinformation” in the digital realm can go “viral”. So viruses absolutely exist in artificial domains removed from Nature, and the phenomenon of being “infected” by something external to us is absolutely real.
I just don’t think they exist (as something contagious and pathogenic, which I assume is what is meant) on a biological level, given after over a century of attempts, you’d think we would have evidence aligning with the scientific method that proves them to exist (we don’t, and I’m not budging on that fact). If we open the debate up to better include science that operates beyond the physical/material domain, perhaps it will be easier to find common ground.
Yes, indeed. I see it as a code that comes into your body that is used to update your system so it functions properly as all the creatures in this ecosystem evolve. Kinda like if we are part of Earth’s biome, the way our gut bacteria is our body’s biome, than a virus sweeping through might be the equivalent of us eating some yogurt to manage the balance of our gut. Some bacteria have to die, the ones that contribute to the out of balance situations. And some get the new code and keep going while others aren’t effected at all because they’re neutral.
Thanks for answering. I’m also on the wavelength that we’re dealing with a meta-physical phenomena and like exploring that realm.
Yes, Zach Bush still offers the most inclusive explanation in the "software update" analogy. There is more common ground between the two "sides" than we realise: so much germ vs terrain disagreement arises from a failure of language. In that sense, "Code" is a very helpful way to frame it, as is Simulation Theory I am finding. Viruses (as pathogenic, rather than neutral or helpful upgrades) are something artificially inserted into our reality - it is interesting how many people who had Covid experienced it as an illness that was unmistakably artificial - and this can be achieved through any medium that can be manipulated. There is so much more there to unpack, so i'd better try and finish my Germ Simulation article soon so we can discuss further!

MOAR, please!

Good insight!
Well said. Thanks!
Thanks Greg!

Bravo, bravo, bravo! Excellent!
Thankyou Goeff!
Isaac, curious about your thoughts on the response to question number 1 in this stack: https://open.substack.com/pub/unglossed/p/the-sage-hana-questionnaire?utm_source=direct&r=xi283&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

!!! Perfect. Looking forward to reading that!
