Love your writing. I still follow because your wicked sense of humor is highly entertaining while your willingness to dive down any hole and give us your opinions is both brave and inspiring. So glad I found your stack.

While I've ditched subscriptions to some substacks because the authors annoyed me one way or another, it's unlikely I'll do that with this one.

The further out in left field the content gets the better it like it, and you seem to be quite an outfielder.

Thanks for recommending Dark City. I'll definitely check it out.

Big fan of Matrix movies and Westworld S1.

But right now I find myself looking back to Half Life 2 and Deus Ex, video games ahead of their time that look a lot like our near future... that hasn't happened yet. Or so they say.

Truth in video games would be one heck of a wombat hole. I can't say I ever got into those two. I always attracted to the universal spirituality that underlies a lot of the iconic Nintendo games, particularly the Zelda series (not so much Mario, which seems pretty obviously about being off your tits on mushrooms). Metal Gear Solid would have alot to say about our current transhumanist times as well.

Haha... yes... MGS is full of it! Mass Effect promotes it along with a little inter-alien sex. Hmm... think I'll pass.

I stopped playing games a while ago when I had a kind of out of body reckoning. Seeing yourself sitting in front of a screen for hours on end responding to visual prompts by mashing buttons on a comfort device... I mean a controller... designed by people who want to keep you in that loop... sort of helps, I guess.

Now I do the same with a keyboard... Oh well... progress... I guess.

The Last of Us is now a popular HBO series which says it all in the title really. I think the "mind programmers" are not so subtly trying to tell us something.
