Given I have dutifully ticked off virtually every conspiracy box by now — mask denier, anti-vaxxer, closet anarchist and apocalypse bringer, off-grid prepper, Qanoner, even flat earther — there is perhaps only one stereotype left: making dodgy YouTube videos. Hello iMovie; add another depth to my dependence on Apple.
But I am going to make these videos different — no normal divisive conspiracy murk, but only proper wholesome conspiracy: the type that bends your mind and challenges us to believe that history is far more interesting, and the world actually far more amazing, than what we have been lead to believe. Conspiracies that you should be happy to believe in, in other words.
Because I do like to think that for every nefarious conspiracy theory doing the rounds, there is another wholesome, mind-bending and awe-inspiring wombat hole waiting to be found.
And where better to start than my personal favourite: that our Earth used to be filled with giant trees. Not only that: but that we can still see the remains of these giant trees today, in structures that we have mistaken as mountains.
Oh boy. Sounds ridiculous? Maybe it is. But don’t decide until you have seen for yourself.
