The state of the world feels a bit overwhelming at the moment… would you agree? Some of these future timelines don’t seem overly appealing:
Depopulation.
Transhumanism.
Perpetual Culture War
Impending Nuclear War.
Climate Catastrophe.
Bill and Klaus blocking out the sun.
Yes, the darkness (sometimes literal) must continue to be opposed. Nonetheless, when it all starts to get a bit much, where does the conspiracy theorist turn for respite and serenity?
Well, I am sucker for nostalgia — finding comfort in revisiting the past with fresh eyes. So when I need an escape from the present, I like to go back in time to try and untangle our history. More specifically: I try to go back in time to untangle what the hell happened to our Earth.
Welcome to The Earth Conspiracy: a new Down the Wombat Hole video series exploring different theories about the nature and history of our Plane(t).
Where first? Well, how about some giant trees? Like, fucking huge trees we are talking about here: back in a pre-flood world of ancient mythology, where our atmosphere was saturated with oxygen and both flora and fauna grew to immense sizes. It sound fanciful, until you start to visualise it with your own mind and try it on for size in the real world.
That was my first attempt at a YouTube video, and it showed, so I decided to go back and give it a dust off and touch up for the occasion.
Engaging with The Earth Conspiracy is a bit different than other wombat holes. It relies less on exhaustive research, data crunching and dot-connecting then a willingness to more simply look at the world around us — at what already lies (hiding) in plain sight — in a different way. To reconsider the stories we have attached to different structures, different locations, different symbols and archetypes — and whether those accepted stories might be just a wee bit simplified and/or inverted.
As such, aesthetics is important (as is substituting snark for whimsy) — presenting existing information in a way that stimulates imagination and emotion (dark arts if ever there were some). These videos will rely heavily on visuals — long shots of landscapes, ancient and existing structures, old photographs and artefacts — and favour overdramatic instrumental music over speech. The better you are able to fully appreciate this imagery as you watch, and the soundtrack as you listen, the more you will get out of the experience.
It will also probably help to be open-minded, curious, unhurried and mindful of the fact that I enjoy being deliberately provocative. Enjoy!
Hadn't seen/heard that one before... Thanks for putting it together. God is Great.
Isaac, what a gorgeous video and soothing music! I’m indeed more intrigued! So... what’s inside these tree trunk looking boulders? Someone surely has dug down deep enough to find what they’re made of, wouldn’t organic matter still exist after many years? Also, if they were once large trees, how did they get cut off so perfectly? And what happened to the trees that weren’t cut off? Trees this large would have giant roots going down for miles... ok, I want to more and will wait hungrily for more wombat theories. I’m with you on the giant people thing tho. There have been so many civilizations on this earth before us, some co-existing and co-habitating and if there were giant lizards, ahem, dinosaurs, why not people, amirite? Not to mention all those giant skeletons they keep digging up...
Also, The Lorax is my kids’ favourite Seuss book. Nice touch there. 🤗
