GEMINI SEASON WHOLESOME ASTROTARO(T)LOGICAL SPECIAL
Ft. Twin Perspectives on the Sign of the Twins from Twin Moonchildren.
HAPPY GEMINI SEASON FELLOW DIGGERS.
No mucking around here: let’s crack straight in and get our bearings by running through the key upcoming Celestial happenings — and we don’t need to wait long.
As I type, the Sun is at the first Degree of Gemini, joining Jupiter — now well and truly in the home stretch in the 26th Degree. This makes Zeus exactly Square the Nodal Axis:
How to interpret? Well, we can say that any soul currently incarnating — taking in their South Node energy with them, as we understand it — will be faced with the task of fully exploring and investigating the Jupiter in Gemini Archetype before the opportunities of the North Node are opened up to them.
On Thursday, the Moon will move through the end of Pisces, cross over the Head of the Dragon, and immediately make a Conjunction with Saturn: now a matter of Minutes away from its Zero Point Crossing. On the same day, Venus and Mars will go exact in their Fire Trine. Oh boy!
What is also significant about Luna’s movements here is that it moves us (back) into what the Vedics called a Kaal Sarp Yoga: where all of the 7 Traditional Planets are located on the same side of the Lunar Node Axis. OG diggers know I have talked about this before as one of the least auspicious examples of Celestial Geometry the Skyclock has to offer (Kaal = Death; Sarp = Serpent) — and it was of course present at the perfectly timed birth/spawning of the Supreme Orange Leader of the Realm.
I’m still not sure how crucial the position of the Moon is — whether the Serpentineness pauses for half a moonth as she moves in and out — but purely symbolically its suggests we may have an interesting 14 or so days ahead of us.
Well: not that things haven’t already been interesting. We originally moved into this configuration at the end of April — when first Saturn, then Venus and finally Luna passed over Rahu. If we leave Luna out of the equation, we could roughly identify the 21st — Easter Monday! — as the day both Venus and Saturn had moved over the Degree of the Dragon’s Head (the exact location of the Nodes is a bit fuzzy). Look at that absolutely brutal chart: the Sun exactly Square Mars, with Pluto completing the T-Square while conveniently joined by Luna (of course; bitch).
Anything of note happen that day?
LOL GOOD ONE: I SSSSSSSSSSSEE WHAT YOU DID THERE.
I HAVE MORE.
A few days later, on the 23rd, we had a fairly brutal terrorist attack in Kashmir — which we know then spiralled into WW3-adjacent hostilities between India and Pakistan across the first weeks of May.
Well, did you know that India and Pakistan have the almost exact same birth chart? Both nations were essentially born at midnight, August 14/15 1957: when India was granted independence from the Brits, who still felt the need to cleave off a chunk on their way out as Pakistan.
Although, in a fun twist, India had their official paperwork slightly delayed to allegedly produce a better horoscope.
“Pakistan agreed on declaring independence at midnight on 14th (/15th) August 1947.
The Indian decision-makers however, followed the traditional and cultural practice of consulting astrologers before starting something new. The ‘new’ in this case was a smaller and partitioned India.
Given the constraints of the situation, astrologers suggested that the declaration of independence be delayed until the late hours (post dinner time) of 14th August. Nehru and company tactfully kept the officiating British staff engaged in discussion until after the decided time and declared independence at midnight on 15th August.”
Well, I’m not sure who the Astrologers were that India’s founders consulted with, because delaying signing the dotted line until the moment Rahu was on the Ascendant and a Triple Venus-Saturn-Pluto Conjunction was on the IC feels like a Celestial Prank that Hermes would be proud of.
As you can also see from both charts: the Brits/Masons had the last laugh — if there were Astrologers involved, they couldn’t prevent both nations being born under the dreaded Kaal Sarp Yoga.
Long story short: we might extrapolate that any entities encoded with the Celestial Serpent will experience an uptick in shady activity once it reappears in the heavens. And this is one spicy Serpent we have on our hands now (not in the least because it has also appeared in the Chinese Year of the Snake).
On the 25th of May, the Greater Malefic officially ticks over into Aries. To mark the significance of the occasion, its passage is accompanied by two close-to-exact Aspects: Mercury taking its turn to join Uranus within the bounds of Algol/Medusa, with the Sun now moved on to Trine Pluto.
HOLY MOLY, HOLD IT RIGHT THERE: this calls for another three card spread to guide us through our second successive spicy weekend.
Last time, we grounded ourselves with the final card of the Major Arcana. Well, with Saturn now having ticked over to Zero Degrees, let’s head back to the start of the deck with card number 0: The Fool.
New Beginnings
Innocence and Naivety
Potential and Opportunities
Embarking on a Journey
Significant Choices Await
Spoiler alert: this was a highly Taurean Spread — all Pentacles, the Suit of CashMoney. Which actually seemed very appropriate: while Gemini Season may be upon us, its Ruler Hermes — God of Trade and Business — is speeding at maximum velocity through the Sign of the Bull towards its meeting with Medusa and Prometheus (Algol, for all its bad rep, was also known by the Ancients as a Wealth Star).
Past Influences: Page of Pentacles Reversed
Fixated on the Material
Hustling Gone Wrong
Money Blockages
Stalled Business Ventures
Excess and Wastefulness
The Present Situation: Four of Pentacles
Stinginess and Hoarding
Poverty Consciousness
A Call for Material Detachment
Finding Our Generous Spirit
Likely Outcome: Six of Pentacles
Charity and Philanthropy
The Great Benefactor
Financial Equality
Gratitude in Thick and Thin
Accepting Help and Assistance
Look: it did feel like I was being personally attacked in this spread, so if you’re not feeling it personally, don’t worry; perhaps the cards decided to use the opportunity to publicly tell (shame) me to stop being a tight-arse and let the abundance flow.
Notwithstanding, I did appreciate the Taurean simplicity of it: yes, recent hustling efforts may not have gone completely to plan; and yes, it’s not unreasonable to want to hold on to what one has left a little tighter; but yes, if money is simply energy, then giving is the same energetic act as receiving — an act of exchange. Only a Fool would give from what little they had without the expectation of receiving, but simply because the cards told him to?
Anyway: no Major Arcana and no Swords makes a nice break from all the surrounding apocalyptic warmongering bollocks.
For the full experience:
With business out of the way, let’s get down to some Moonchild goodness.
First, the Hermes Queens herself, Aurora: the first Celestial Story I have come across to have all 5 Personal Planets in the same Tropical Sign (and with the Ascendent barely across the street).
Needless to say: if we wanted a personification of Gemini energy, then this is our gal.
Obviously, she is very clever: you have to be to have 5 charting pop albums before you have even had your first Saturn Return (she has also explicitly called out the Palestinian genocide in her last album, not that that requires particular cleverness). She is also a bit of a shapeshifter: her music switches from innocent pop sweetness, to highly spicy Bjork-esque odes to her inner Pluto.
Gemini is symbolised by The Twins, and she also demonstrates somewhat of a split personality: many of her songs seem to be a dialogue between herself and an internal alter. Her second and third albums were twin records based around the same theme…
…while her fourth Album has her splitting into multiple personas.
I am a fan, as has already been well established, so I might have some fun over the next month by covering my favourite Aurora bangers — most of which are suited to electronic drums, which is especially handy for me right now.
One of the quirks of Tropical Astrology is that the Signs were originally determined based on the transition of the seasons in the Northern Hemisphere, yet still work consistently across the whole Realm (I was highly skeptical at first, but practice has proved it out; you would struggle to argue I do not act like a Triple Leo).
While in the Northern Hemisphere, Gemini Season is an introduction to Summer, Downunder it leads us into the chills of Winter. So I thought I would start with her ode to Winter Birds, set to some late Autumnal footage from a foggy Golden Valley Tree Park.
OK OK.
Yes: we can’t discuss the Gemini Archetype without the OG.
Let’s load up that Serpent-afflicted Celestial Story, and unpack a few things about what makes that notorious Gemini Sun so special.
Firstly, we note Leo Rising — even if only by bare minutes of the final Degree — which makes the Sun the “Chart Ruler” according to most traditions.
A nice little Sextile from Mars in its Home Sign, Conjunct to a few Degrees the Ascendent.
An even nicer Trine from the Greater Benefic: Stationing Direct for added archetypal power.
Not sure if we would call that Conjunction with Uranus nice, but it is certainly something.
But of course, the key player is the Head of the Dragon. We think Expansion/Exaggeration like Jupiter, but without the added Beneficness (and arguably with added Maleficness); we think some invisible and irresistible pull, not unlike a karmic tractor beam; and we think that pull as drawing into the material domain to an extent that makes both ourselves and others uncomfortable.
Perhaps there has never been, and may never be, another Gemini Sun quite like it. And thus, perhaps it is not surprising that — as with other aspects of the The Astrology of the Orange Moonchild — the Celestial Symbology becomes manifest in quite unavoidable and entertaining ways.
So, to finish this Gemini Season Wholesome AstroTaro(t)logical Special, enjoy a musical and memetic ode to The Orange Twins — and perhaps Tonika’s best work, which deserves its own airtime, rather than being tucked away in Part 4 of The Orange Moonchild.
READINGS:
You crack me up, Isaac! Your info is waaayyy over my kindergarten-level head, but I love reading it, nonetheless. Adios, Taurus Season! Was it just me, or was it BRUTAL? My moon and rising are in Taurus, and I've never felt so lethargic and stuck in my life. I had this aha moment, realizing that Kapha Season (Ayurveda) and Taurus Season intersect in the spring. I have so little Kapha in my Ayurvedic constitution, but evidently the Taurus energy is strong enough to bring my typically energetic Vata self to a HALT. Was anyone else feeling this lethargy?? I'm hoping the Gemini season helps me sharpen my verbal communication skills! I'm a much better writer than speaker...
Thanks for the update, Isaac! You're amazing!
The singer Aurora has the same birthday as my brother, though he'll be turning 50 this year, God willing, as a Father's Day baby. The point about being willing to accept help is well taken for me: I've been doing some personal meditation on my traumatizing past regarding that subject matter. Perhaps what we all need to transcend is what we focus our giving and receiving efforts on...
